Tom Cruise is phenomenal. He gives a nice show, but he really can play pool. This is my favorite scene from the movie. Starring – Tom Cruise as Vincent and Paul Newman as Fast Eddie Felson. Songs: Eric Clapton – “It’s In The Way That You Use It” & Warren Zevon – “Werewolves of London”.

    This preview looks like it would air on LIFETIME Television For Women or a straight to DVD flick. It’s a classic movie but today if there was an official “National Period day” Spike TV would run this and a Christmas story 5 to 7 day marathon.

    this movie got me hooked on the game of pool. I play for relaxation, comaraderie and the thrill of competition. The game of pool has it all. An average sized guy like me can compete at the top level against anyone…including women. It demands finesse, not strength.

    I think if you are going to make a sequel the least you can do is make something that’s different from the original. Charge the material and take risks. It’s as much a brilliant sequel as it is its own film.

    Several people asking what song is playing, but there are several on the trailer. First is It’s In The Way That You Use It by Eric Clapton and next is Werewolves of London by Warren Zevon.

    @LeviBakersfield I seriously doubt he actually believes that shit. Scientology and other sketchy religions are usually a legal form of tax evasion. I dare say that’s what he is doing. If that is the case it makes him quite clever.

    @monkeybizwak

    That’s why rottentomatoes is more reliable (91%). Remember, the general public spends over 36 million dollars on movies like Vampires Suck, so you can’t really trust what your next door neighbor has to say about a movie.

    BEAUTIFUL long take

    • 4TXBL
    • January 24th, 2012

    @ceratoidegus Then it cuts to Paul Newman “Fast Eddie” driving for awhile, and then walking into the pool hall. As he enters, you can hear the crowd applaud and cheer, as if Vince had made some other great shot, but then when they show the table again, the cue ball is lined up straight behind the 5 ball for Vince’s one-handed shot (at 1:48).

    • 4TXBL
    • January 24th, 2012

    @ceratoidegus You are delusional if you think this was shot without moving the 5 ball. All you have to do is look at 1:23 to see the cue ball is barely past the side pocket and the 5 ball is around the middle diamond. If he were to shoot the 5 in the corner from that angle, there is a good chance he would scratch in the other corner.

    • ceratoidegus
    • January 24th, 2012

    @4TXBL im sure that for scorsese this was very easy…considering he only make this movie to finance one of his dream projects “THE LAST THEMPTATION OF CRHIST”….scorsese has made much better camera moves…look RAING BULL for ex….THE COLOR of money IS one of his week films….but even a mediocre scorsese film, is a good film for most directors…AND YOU ARE COMPLETE WRONG! THE SCENE WAS SHOTED IN A SIGLE LONG SEQUENCE!….OF COURSE IT WAS A CHOREOGRAPHY WITH GREAT TIMING AND SHOTED.
